Love Still Speaks
A daughter’s journey of hope, joy and love through dementia
Nancy’s new language of love

Welcome to My Journey With Nancy
My name is Martha, and this blog is about my mother, Nancy.
When dementia entered our lives, I expected it to be a story about what was disappearing. Instead, I began to discover something else: new ways of connecting, new reasons to smile, and new reminders that love remains even as Nancy’s memory fades.
I found that love still speaks its own language.
I discovered that joy often reveals itself in the simplest moments—a warm cup of tea, a gentle bubble bath, a favorite hymn that sparks recognition, or an unexpected memory that brightens the day. I’ve learned that happiness isn’t always found in life’s biggest milestones. More often, it arrives quietly, tucked inside the ordinary moments we might otherwise overlook.
This blog is not just about dementia. It is about Nancy. It is about the woman who raised me and my siblings, taught us, loved us, and continues to teach me lessons every day. It is about seeing the person beyond the diagnosis and recognizing that while dementia changes many things, it does not erase a lifetime of love.
Here, I will share stories from our journey together—the challenges, the surprises, the heartbreaks, and the beautiful moments that make me stop and appreciate the present.
My hope is that these reflections offer comfort, encouragement, and connection to others who are walking a similar path. If you are caring for someone with dementia, or if someone you love is living with memory loss, I hope you find reassurance that even when words fade, love remains.
Thank you for joining me as I share the moments, memories, and simple joys that continue to shape our days.
Welcome to our story.
